The 21st Century Classroom - Developing Creative Musicians for the Future
Thursday, March 5, 2020
Today's students struggle to find the time and devotion needed to play a stringed instrument. Learn how to really engage them with 21st Century strategies that combine exciting technologies, improvisation and World music from the classics to the current trends. Students will beg to join your orchestra!
Using the book Rockin' Strings, written by Mark Wood and Dr. Bob Gillespie, Mark will share new techniques to help you teach creativity by actively engaging students with technologies that will accelerate their learning experience. They will maintain a high level of interaction and brain stimulation, thus bonding your students to a life long relationship with a bowed, stringed instrument.
By including World styles, improvisation and technologies, and partnering with the discipline of classical music, we will demonstrate a new system of learning.
Discover new tools to help accelerate the learning process:
Learn to use melody, harmony and rhythm exercises to get you and your students creatively improvising.
Use iPads for students to record themselves and listen back, enabling them to critique their own playing.
The session will feature demonstrations by Mark and students from local schools. Materials will be available to take back to your classroom to get you started Monday morning!
